Overview
Sikkim, state in India, is located in the northeastern part of the country, in the eastern Himalayas. It is one of the smallest states in India. Sikkim is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and northeast, by Bhutan to the southeast, by the Indian state of West Bengal to the south, and by Nepal to the west. The capital is Gangtok, in the southeastern part of the state. A part of the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth. Sikkim’s capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station (Siliguri)/ Bagdogra Airport (Siliguri), you will meet the tour guide, who will accompany you throughout the journey. From airport/railway station in drive to Darjeeling. Upon arrival at Darjeeling, you will be transferred to a pre-booked comfortable hotel for overnight stay and dinner.
Early morning at around 3:45 AM drive to 8000 feet / 2440 meters through primitive forests of oak, magnolia to Tiger hill to view sunrise over Kanchenjunga Peak (subject to clear weather) – On the way back visit Monastery and the Batasia Loop. Back to hotel – Time for breakfast - After breakfast next round of sightseeing - Half Day city tour includes Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Ropeway, Tensing Gumpo Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (Closed on Sunday), Tea Estate (view only), Natural History Museum (Closed on Thursday), Peace Pagoda – Back to hotel – Evening free to stroll around the area - Overnight stay at Darjeeling. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
On the third day, you will go for a 4-hour drive to reach Gangtok (5,500 ft.), the capital city of Sikkim. After enjoying the beautiful ride through the tea plantations and mountains to reach Gangtok, you will be transferred to a hotel. Today, you will be going for the city sightseeing tour, which includes places like Flower show, Cottage Industry, and Handicraft Centre, Institute of Tibetology, Dro-dul Chorten, Enchey Monastery & Banjakhri Falls. Stay and dinner at Gangtok Hotel.
Start your day with a healthy breakfast. According to your pre-decided schedule, you will be visiting Tsomgo Lake (12,400 Feet), a high-altitude lake that is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhist. After spending few minutes at the lake, you will visit the Baba Mandir (13,200 Feet). Dinner and Overnight stay at Gangtok.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel in Gangtok and embark on a 103 km long drive to reach Lachung, a small town located in North Sikkim. On your journey, from Sikkim to Lachung, you will enjoy a stopover at Naga Waterfall, Confluence of Lachen Chu (River) & Lachung Chu (River) at Chungthang and Bhim Nala Waterfall. After a refreshing stop, continue your ride towards Lachun. Dinner and overnight stay at Lachung hotel.
On the sixth day of your expedition, you will be visiting the Yumthang Valley, which is also known as the valley of flowers. On your way back to the hotel, you will be visiting a hot spring, where taking bath is considered as good because the water contains medicinal properties. Stay and dinner at the Lachung hotel.
After breakfast, drive back to Gangtok. On the way, if the weather is clear you may get to see Mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik viewpoint. On arrival at Gangtok, you will check-in to your hotel. Evenings will be free for leisure. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
After breakfast drive to Bagdogra Airport or NJP railway station for reaching your onward destination.
