Overview
Sikkim, state in India, is located in the northeastern part of the country, in the eastern Himalayas. It is one of the smallest states in India. Sikkim is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and northeast, by Bhutan to the southeast, by the Indian state of West Bengal to the south, and by Nepal to the west. The capital is Gangtok, in the southeastern part of the state. A part of the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth. Sikkim’s capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. Long a sovereign political entity, Sikkim became a protectorate of India in 1950 and an Indian state in 1975. Its small size notwithstanding, Sikkim is of great political and strategic importance for India because of its location along several international boundaries. Tour Plan
After arriving at the Airport/Railway Station, transfer to Gangtok. Upon reaching Gangtok, check-in to the hotel where the evening will be for your leisure. You can also explore the famous MD Marg to treasure some unique souvenirs and authentic cuisines. Overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.
Today we explore Gangtok city, we visit Ranka Monastery, Banjhakri waterfall (subject to operation), and we enjoy a Rope Way Ride which gives us a splendid view of Gangtok city, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and Dordul Chorten Stupa. Later we visit the Flower exhibition centre, Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok and Tashi View Point to capture amazing views of Himalayan ranges.
Today we proceed to Lachung - One of the most stunning Himalayan villages. En route we visit Bhim Nala Waterfalls – one of the tallest waterfalls in Sikkim and Lachung Monastery (subject to operation).
Today we proceed to Gangtok. In the evening we enjoy the local folk dance. Reach your hotel, check-in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Today we visit Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir – a holy shrine honouring Indian army soldier, folk hero and saint Baba Harbhajan Singh. Later we visit Tsomgo Lake – a high altitude scenic lake considered to be sacred by the Sikkimese. In the evening, we have some free time to explore the nightlife and casinos of Gangtok on our own.
Note: Foreigners and NRI's are restricted to visit Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir as per Government regulations.
Today we proceed to Darjeeling – a premier destination and hill station. En route we visit Tista River for a thrilling experience of white water rafting. The evening is free to relax and explore the surroundings.
Today early morning we visit Tiger Hill to enjoy a mesmerising sunrise on the Kanchenjunga Ranges. Followed by a visit to Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Zoological Park and Tenzing Rock. Later we visit the Tea Estates where we get to click photos in the tea garden as well as taste local Darjeeling Tea. In the evening, we enjoy some free time for shopping.
After having your breakfast, start driving towards Mirik in Darjeeling. As you drive through picturesque valleys and lush green meadows, experience the soft breeze caressing your face and tranquility, calling you closer. Mirik is one of the most serene tourist attractions of Darjeeling. relax by the beautiful Sumendu Lake and let the pleasing weather and breathtaking views leave you mesmerized. Then, enjoy boating, horse riding, and canoeing at Mirik. Mirik is a great location for trekkers as it offers several trails from where tourists can enjoy the view of thick and beautiful forests. On your way back to Darjeeling, visit Pashupati Market and shop for imported clothes and cosmetics from Thailand. In the evening, go for a stroll around the Mall or the local market area. Stay overnight at Darjeeling.
